The Nile River: Source of Civilizations

Updated: Jun 16, 2024

The Nile River has two branches: the Blue Nile, which starts in Ethiopia, and the White Nile, which begins in South Sudan, which meets to form the “Nile River” in Khartoum, Sudan, and has been around since time immemorial. These rivers have birthed and maintained great indigenous African black civilizations and powers. Many wars have been fought along the Nile, and many communities have been birthed along the Nile. The Nile River is essential to the story of the human race, and we owe our beginnings to these great waters. In contemporary times the following countries are disputing over the Nile for the potential energy it can create through hydro dams and also as a freshwater resource for their populations. The Nile is vital to the development and sustenance of the following African nations such as Ethiopia, Kenya,  Tanzania, South Sudan, Egypt, Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi and Eritrea.

The Nile crisis’s breakdown needs proper investigation, unity, and proper allocation of water shares to each respective African nation. All of our countries deserve to thrive, develop and become technologically advanced. It’s in the region’s best interest to collaborate and approach such a sensitive situation humanely that dignifies all African nations that depend on the Nile for sustenance. Africa’s future depends on the like-mindedness and unity of leaders who share the same goal of advancing the African community forward into the 21st century. The Nile is an essential source for our communities. So let’s use it for the benefit of the collective.
