Nation Building

When it comes to building consciousness among the South Sudanese people, one must start by getting the population to seek treatment for the intergenerational traumas inherited from ongoing civil wars, the legacy of colonialism, and the legacy of slavery. Consciousness can only be built if the barriers to nation-building are being worked on or have been eradicated. 

South Sudanese people have no problem working together, co-existing peacefully and making the nation a vibrant one. Their only obstacle is the perceived differentness and otherization of foreign communities to one's own. All of these problems are rooted in survival-hood. We stick to our people to survive, and have food, shelter, and community, especially when there's no other option. In this case, the government has failed to deliver essential services and development, forcing our people to recoil back into their comfort zones. 

Nation-building is accompanied by evidence of work promised and implemented before the naked eye of the citizen. The citizen needs to see their government implement vital programs, invest in neglected sectors of society, and increase human capital through investment and infrastructure development. By the government honouring its nation-building projects, then can it foster openness in the people. 

In conclusion, healing our intergenerational traumas and removing the various veils that clothe our eyes are the way forward to a healthy nation. The government implementing much-needed programs, and services and developing the land will lead to a South Sudan where people will think with one mind.
