One reason that brings political, economic, and societal instability in South Sudan is regional instability in East Africa. East African nations are not at peace at the moment. For many years they have been plagued by instability in all directions due to civil unrest in their nations. These African nations sometimes choose to be on the side of corruption rather than justice. In the case of South Sudanese, many East African nations support the current administration for what they can gain from the republic and not in the interest of the civil population. The problem is not exclusive to East African nations solely, but other African nations are implicated in the stagnancy of the nation. Names will be withheld for legal reasons, but the time will come when they will be held responsible for their part in the war crimes that have plagued South Sudanese for centuries.
African unity needs to begin with African nations holding each other accountable for their misbehaviour in the interest of the civil population in their receptive countries. African nations cannot continue to be bystanders in their regional political and economic affairs, especially regarding other African nations. Regional stability in East Africa is dependent on African nations having solid respect for each other. We will devote a week to how African nations undermine their sovereignty and bring instability to each other's countries.
In conclusion, regional stability is dependent on the stability of each East African nation. Therefore it is a must that each East African nation is held to the highest standard that's suitable for the 21st-century era. Avoidant behaviour when it comes to our regional affairs will lead to more preventable problems. The region's future depends on solid investment in the right relationships and sectors to bring the region to 21st-century standards.
